Exploring the psyche, I use images and concepts from media including scientific imagery, magazines, films and fiction.

I explore two themes:
- Mute and still, paint becomes an analogy for the self in contrast to the noise of media and contemporary life.

- Painting as valid form of expression, in the face of the proliferation of media.

My paintings explore tensions between surfaces. They are both representational and abstract. Sumptuous areas of colour and texture are set against flat notes of colour. Paint can be stripped away to show bare canvas. Undermining the notion of painting as transcendental experience.
