TANIA DENTON

I use photography, drawing and painting to explore specific spaces, perception, identification and the human condition. The subject choices are seemingly ordinary: a corner, a corridor– things that are familiar.  My desire is to create something that draws the observer in, allowing them to interact and respond to their unique interpretation; tapping into the personal, yet collective consciousness.

My new work is inspired by a public space in Hackney. A Victorian cemetery which presents an intriguing juxtaposition of uses, simultaneously being a place to grieve, a nature reserve, a place to take drugs, a beautiful cut through in an urban area, and a known cruising location.
